About This Book
All praise and thanks are due to Allah (swt), and all peace and blessings be upon His Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
It is only by Allah’s support and guide; this book will come to light. May Allah accept this work and guide us to the right path.
Step by Step Certification in the Qurʾān is a directory which aims at guiding the teachers, as well as students, of Qurʾān through their journey of obtaining Ijāzah in their studies of the Qurʾān. We tried to cover all aspects of this process; starting from the selection of students, the running and management of the classes, the assessments, and evaluations and finally what is required to award the student the Ijāzah at the end of this journey.
The book provides explanation of how to pursue Ijāzah based on the profound hands-on experience of three professional teachers who obtained their Ijāzas from various reputable teachers of different nationalities and deep-rooted knowledge. The types of Ijāzah covered in this book are in the following fields:
- Tilāwah (recitation)
- Memorization
- Motoon (Technical poems) in tajweed
- Qirʾāt (different modes of recitation)
- Books
Why This Book
Teachers guide and lead the way. They motivate and mind gaps between aspirations and reality. Yet teachers are people they open minds and touch hearts. Teaching is a great mission.
‘Uthmān (رضي الله عنه) reported God’s messenger as saying:
“The best among you is he who learns and teaches the Qur’ān.” Bukhārī transmitted it.
During our journey of ijazah, we passed through many challenges.
- We faced the problem of sources. Tajweed books in Arabic are numerous, yet they are not unified and most of them are not advanced. Moreover, they are not compiled in one book.
- Another challenge was the different strategies teachers were following in the process of ijazah. Teachers have various methods and styles which surely is needed, but must be among a framework as not to lead to confusion and mixing up.
Besides being teachers of non-Arab speakers, we faced further more challenges;
- Non-Arab speakers have rare sources to necessary material for the science of tajweed. They are really few and not advanced. We observed the difficulties of non-Arab learners to find a book that they can refer to and to be a trusted source to base on in learning tajweed.
We realized that the need for a tajweed book for non-Arabs is a necessity, and the guide to the process of ijazah is a required demand as well. Here flashed the idea of producing a unified book for non-Arab teachers and learners. The book gives way to standardization. No doubt that following a unified framework, goals can be reached easier. Through organized team work, and being all on the same page, with the same standards, achieve better results.
The book will be a reliable reference for tajweed rules. Moreover, it will serve as an integrated guide to the process of ijazah and will tackle the best ways of how to manage different aspects step by step from selecting candidates till offering the ijazah.
May Allah (عز وجل) accept the efforts done to bring this book to light and grant it success. May Allah make it beneficial to all users and weigh it heavy on our scale.
